RELATIVE PRONOUNS

Los pronombres relativos, "who","where", "which", "when", "where","why", "that", nos ayudará a unir cláusulas juntos.

         That's the shop. I bought my new suit there.     -- Esa es la tienda. Me compré mi traje nuevo allí.--
          That's the shop where bought   my new suit.    --Esa es la tienda donde compré mi traje nuevo.--

USE:

"who"/ "that" para referirse a personas.

     

  That's the girl who used to work in accounts.

  -- Esa es la chica que trabajaba en las cuentas.--

"that"/"which"  para las cosas.
   I once had a computer which had a tiny green screen.

   --Una vez tuve un equipo que tenía una pequeña pantalla verde.--

"when" para el tiempo
   Do you remember the time when we got stuck in the lift? 

  --¿Recuerdas el momento en que nos quedamos atrapados en el ascensor?--

"where" para los lugares.
  That's the office block where your mother used to work.

  --Ese es el edificio de oficinas donde su madre trabajaba.--

"why" para razones.

    She told him the reason why he wasn't being promoted.

   --Ella le dijo que la razón por la que no se está promoviendo.--

"whose" for possession
   He's the manager whose secretary complained to the union.
  --Él es el director cuyo secretario se quejó a la unión.--
